MARAWI CITY, Sep. 21 (PIA) -- Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) through the National Housing Authority (NHA) kicked off the construction of 24.026-kilometer long road networks inside the most affected area of the city.
The implementation of the road network projects is being undertaken by the Eddmari construction with its 5 sub-contractors to fast track the construction of the roads.
TFBM Field Office Manager Assistant Secretary Felix Castro Jr. said that the construction of the roads started on September 17, 2020.
"Nagsimula iyong actual works noong September 17 but before that maraming preparations na ginagawa na. This week, expected na mag full-blast na kasi maraming construction companies na gagawa para ma-attain ang goal na matapos ang rehabilitation bago mag December 2021," said Castro.

Castro also shared that the budget for the project was downloaded around April to June by the Office of the President amidst the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
He also assured that the budget for rehabilitation remains intact and was not affected by the implementation of Bayanihan Heal as One Act.
"Ang allocated na pondo para sa Marawi rehab ay hindi nabawasan hindi tulad sa other projects at departments na binawasan para mag-allocate sa Bayanihan," he added.
[The allocated fund for Marawi rehabilitation has not been reduced unlike other projects at departments which has reduced funds to allocate for Bayanihan.]
The primary road has 20 meters of road right of way, 1,580 meters in long and 14 meters wide. The secondary road measures 12 meters of road right of way, 6,700 meters long and 9 meters wide. For the tertiary road, it has 8 meters of road right of way, 15,746 meters long and 6 meters wide.
The road network project has improved features through road widening. The primary roads will also have the installation of underground utilities.
Eddmari also stationed a batching plant designed for ready-mixed concrete production.
Other infrastructure projects in MAA are also ongoing. Castro also said that some infrastructures will be completed earlier before December 2021.
Meanwhile, TFBM Chairman Sec. Eduardo del Rosario said in Monday's Palace virtual press briefing that the Task Force's objective is to "make the rehabilitation the catalyst of growth and development, good governance and peaceful environment in Marawi".
He also reiterated the commitment of the Task Force to deliver the mandate of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte which is to make "Marawi will rise as a prosperous city again". (LELA/PIA ICIC)
