20 Apr 2021, 10:30 GMT+10

MEXICO CITY, April 19 (Xinhua) -- Uruguayan Robert Siboldi has been appointed head coach of Tijuana for the rest of the 2021 Mexican domestic football season.

The 55-year-old replaces Pablo Guede who was sacked following a 3-2 home defeat to Mazatlan on April 11.

"Welcome to your new home, [Roberto]," Tijuana said in a brief statement on social media.

Tijuana are currently 15th in the 18-team Liga MX Clausura standings with four wins, four draws and seven losses.

Siboldi, a former goalkeeper who was capped 34 times for Uruguay's national team, has been out of work since parting ways with Mexico's Cruz Azul in December.
