CALI, Colombia Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- Puerto Rico clinched gold medals in both the men's and women's bowling events at the Junior Pan American Games here on Tuesday.
Edgar Burgos took the men's gold by beating Costa Rica's Javier Conejo in the final while Taishaye Naranjo defeated Colombia's Sara Duque in the women's decider.
Puerto Rico also claimed gold in the women's long jump as Paola Andrea Fernandez fended off challenges from Colombia's Natalia Linares and Brazil's Thaina Fernandes.
Brazil led the medal tally on day five of the games with five gold, three silver and four bronze. The haul included three golds in swimming: Pedro Farias in the men's 1500m freestyle; Beatriz Dizotti in the women's 1500m freestyle; and Clarissa Rodrigues, Julia Goes, Giulia Carvalho and Stephanie Balduccini in the women's 4x100m medley relay.
Pedro Rodrigues and Guilherme Rocha also triumphed in the men's javelin and the men's 200m speed-skating time trial, respectively.
Brazil lead the overall medal standings with 34 gold, ahead of Mexico (29 gold), Colombia (28 gold) and the United States (28 gold).
