Urgent: Honduran lawmaker injured after explosive device was thrown at Congress

TEGUCIGALPA, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- A Honduran lawmaker was wounded Thursday after an explosive device was hurled at a group of people outside the National Congress in the capital, Tegucigalpa, according to multiple news outlets.

The incident occurred as lawmakers from the opposition National Party were giving statements to the media outside the Congress building. The device was hurled toward the group, hitting Congresswoman Gladis Aurora Lopez in the head before detonating.
