Mexican president calls for world peace amid Middle East escalation

The Mexican government will always advocate for world peace, the country's President Claudia Sheinbaum said on Sunday, referring to the recent military attacks launched by the United States and Israel against Iran.

She pointed out that the country's constitution establishes that Mexico's foreign policy principles should be guided by the self-determination of peoples, non-intervention and the peaceful settlement of disputes.

The United States and Israel began large-scale airstrikes against Iran on Saturday morning, prompting Tehran to retaliate with waves of missile and drone attacks on Israel and U.S. military bases in the Gulf region.
