Taiping Houkui is a renowned green tea from Anhui, known for its flat, elongated leaves. It offers a unique aroma, mellow taste, and sweet aftertaste. Recently, the core production area of Taiping Houkui, the high-mountain tea gardens in Houkeng Village of Huangshan City, have entered the busiest harvest season.
To pick fresh tea leaves to make Taiping Houkui, local tea farmers and tea leave pickers they hired have to trek over mountains and rivers to reach to tea gardens. Amid dense forests and morning mist, they start their works early.
In 2025, Huangshan District's total tea output reached 1,722.8 tonnes, generating a comprehensive output value of 3.9 billion yuan (about 571 million U.S. dollars). (Xinhua/Zhang Duan)
